Mileage Report: Written iPhone App Review
Sometimes you want to be able to have your mileage and expenses report all conveniently located together so you don’t have to scramble for all the paperwork later. Whether for business or personal use, the Mileage Report app from developer Brandon Storz will do just that for you. It is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad, and runs on iOS 5.0 or later.
When Mileage Report is first loaded, a calendar with the current date emphasized will be shown, and the user will be prompted to tap the plus symbol icon on the upper right hand corner to get started. From there the user will record information such as destination, purpose, date, category, odometer beginning number, and odometer ending number. This can be done for one way trips or round trips. Upon saving the relevant information, the user will be returned to the main menu, where four functions are accessible on the bottom of the calendar screen. These four features are: “Mileage”, “Expenses”, “Reports”, and “Settings”. The “Mileage” function is the primary feature where the user inputs all their relevant information. They can also add more detailed information under the “Expenses” feature. Under the “Reports” feature, they can input information such as tax return information and its details such as start and ending report date, categories it includes, and the option to include expenses or not. Under the “Settings” feature, the user can customize the categories they want to be shown such as business, charity, medical, and moving rates.
Appearance and Layout:
The overall appearance of Mileage Report is very simplistic and basic. With a monochromatic and grayscale background color scheme, the app is straight forward and to the point. The user should have no problem figuring out what information goes where and how to read the results and reports. There aren’t any fancy graphics and sound effects associated with this app because they aren’t necessary.
For Mileage Report being offered for $2.99 is an average deal. Most users would not be rushing to spend that much on a non-entertainment app, but for those who like to stay organized and have everything conveniently located in one place, this app is just the thing. With all reports and information stored on their personal device, details can be pulled instantly and on the go, no matter where they are. Not only is it great for business related trips, but it can also be used for personal use, particularly for those who like to stay on budget and keep track of what is being allocated where.
