Eat24: iPhone Video App Review
When the hunger hits you, it hits you hard. Nothing’s worse than starving and not knowing where to turn for your next nosh session. Luckily this week, I had the pleasure of reviewing an app called Eat24. This app, from developer EAT24, puts hungry iPhone users in touch with food in a whole new way, with full menus, easy mobile ordering and even some money-saving coupons. One thing’s for sure, you may never find an app that makes it easier to order take out. Let’s see how Eat24 does all that and more.
Using your iPhone’s current location, or any address you’d care to, Eat24 performs a search for local restaurants that offer take out. There are currently more than 20,000 restaurants entered in the app, so it definitely has some pull. Unfortunately, none of the restaurants in my current location participate in the app (bummer), but a simple address entry for one of NYC’s busy areas turned up tons of results. So, this app will be most useful for folks in metro areas, just an FYI.
After I sorted out my little location snafu, it was easy to see how this app would be a big help to folks traveling away from home, or just interested in streamlining the take-out ordering process. Eat24 offers tons of customizable search filters, making it easy to find just what you’re looking for. It also has a ridiculously simple order process, detailed menus and even reviews from fellow users. The app saves locations, lets you save favorite orders and even log credit card info if you so desire.
Oh, and if all that isn’t enough to ensure a stress-free eating experience, Eat24 has 24/7 chat support and built in coupon codes that can save you cash. And it’s all for free. How’s that for fabulous? Now if only it did anything for me in po-dunk Tennessee…
Layout & Design:
The Eat24 iPhone app is broken up into a logical series of easily navigated tabs. And it even rocks an urban motif with a bit of city flair. I have no complaints about the app’s execution, but, as usual, think the designers could have pushed the theme a little further or included some icons and favorite features to keep the app fresh. Even optional skins could be cool. I wouldn’t mind ordering from a sparkly pink app, would you?
From the delicious execution to the app’s money-saving fabulousness, it’s hard to say no to Eat24. The only thing that keeps me from rating the app higher is the limited applicability. I know there are tons of take-out places in my town, I just wish the app supported them. Eat24 is a solid value and a must-have for any urban aficionado looking to save time and make eating easier all around. You owe it to yourself to check out this fab title.
Eat24 iPhone app requires iOS 4.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
