betscores: iPhone Written App Review
Whether you’re a single season sports fanatic, or you are obsessed with the odds for sports of all kinds, one thing’s for sure – sports betting is serious stuff. That’s why it’s nice to see an app like betscores come across my desk. This app puts wanna be players in touch with instant scores and betting odds from more than 50 booking agencies around the world, making this title from Mobile Media S.A. a must have for sport aficionados who put their money where their mouths are.
The betscores iPhone app connects users to scores and betting odds for six of the world’s most popular sports: basketball, baseball, hockey, football (or soccer as we call it here in the states), American football and tennis, and follows over 300 tournaments and leagues from all over the world. The feel is definitely international with this app, which updates every minute with scores, match info and real time odds from online bookies.
I’ll be the first to admit, I’m not a know-it-all when it comes to placing bets. As such, I found myself wishing for some better explanations of the spread as it were. Betscores could use an info or help section in a big way. But, if you already have a basic grasp on the concept, this app seriously delivers. And, best of all, it’s entirely free. Too bad it’s lacking a lot of features that general sports fans will want, such as commentary and stats, which could make this app more desirable across the board.
The app caters mostly to current games. It covers scores seven days back, and focuses on games up to seven days in the future. I’m a big fan of the app’s favorite feature, which makes it easy to find your top matches with ease. It also sports Facebook integration if you are keen on sharing the results or odds of a certain game.
Layout & Design:
It’s all about easy, logical navigation in the betscores iPhone app. While it is compatible with the iPad as well, this app is not truly universal, so it does not make full use of the iPad’s expansive screen real estate. Such a pitty.
Otherwise, I found the app simple to use. It even sports a few cool gestures such as the side swipe to delete favorites, and a shake option that takes you to the Today page with links to the current games, your settings and more. I like apps that let users be smart but don’t bog them down with complex gestures. Betscores definitely straddles that line with aplomb. I did find myself wishing for a bit more themeing, but doubt it will be a big issue for sports fans.
If scores and bets are your thing, you simply must get the betscores iPhone app. It’s available free of charge in six languages, and makes it easy to see what kind of odds you’re up against if you are considering placing a bet. As a sports app, there are features missing, such as video or Twitter integration, but it does deliver betting odds and sports scores in a slick way users are sure to love. Betscores gets a middle of the road rating, since the app is nice but has plenty of room for improvement.
betscores iPhone app requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
