Haypi Dragon: Written iPhone App Review
Haypi Dragon, from developer Haypi Co, is a brand new Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game for the iOS. Chances are, you’ve heard of other MMORPGs, like World of Warcraft, Everquest and Runescape. However, Haypi Dragon features some unique game play elements, including a physics-based combat system that really sets it apart from the competition. Interested? Read on!
Haypi is similar in many aspects to the traditional MMORPG formula: Create a character and level it up through quests, fighting, training and more. Collect awesome loot along the way, buy/sell/trade to get rich and become a top-tier player, competing in player-vs-player combat. To this end, gamers that have played other MMORPGs will feel right at home with Haypi.
Combat is unique in Haypi Dragon, with players having to lob explosives at each other or enemy computer players (NPCs) in a turn-based, Angry-Birds style/physics battle. There is also special powerups, potions and more than be used on turns to augment your dragon’s combat ability. The game features loads of areas to explore and level up through, along with multiple training options for your character. There’s over 100 abilities and skills to acquire in the game, along with some pretty entertaining and challenging player vs player combat (up to 4 players). The entire world is online and you’ll need an active connection to play. You can even chat with other players throughout the game world while playing. Overall, I was quite impressed with the array of features offered in Haypi Dragon and the fun, light-hearted gameplay as well.
Appearance and Layout:
Graphics are well done in Haypi Dragon. It’s not as realistic or serious as many popular MMOs on the market today (Everquest, Eve Online), but it still looks great. The developers have gone for a cutesy-fantasy design, with cartoon dragons more reminiscent of Angry Birds than World of Warcraft. The in-game tutorial provides an excellent introduction to the world of Haypi Dragon and really sets the stage for the game nicely. Even as a complete newcomer to Haypi Dragon, I was able to progress through levels and take on enemies in no time, thanks to the great layout and intro hints.
With language support in many different languages (Japanese, Korea, English, Arabic, Italian and many more), fun game play, amusing graphics and loads of replay value, Haypi Dragon is a pretty solid MMO title on the iOS. It’s also free to download and play, although customers may end up buying in-app purchases, as seen in many online free-mium iOS games. The low system requirements also are a hit, not to mention the unique battle mode and PVP options. If you are looking for a new MMO on the iOS, I’d suggest giving Haypi Dragon a shot today!
