Fotor: Written iPhone App Review
Looking for something than your average on the photo editor? Then Fotor from developer Everimaging Ltd is the perfect app for you. It is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad, and runs on iOS 4.3 or later.
When the user first loads Fotor, they will be prompted with nine different menu options: “FX & Frame”, “Collage”, “Edit & Crop”, “HDR”, “Camera”, “Big Aperture”, “1-Tap Enhance”, “Color Splash”, and “Album. Not only does this app edit photos, but it has its own camera that takes pictures as well, so that way the user does not have to switch back and forth from their default device camera and then reload the app. The in app camera also features a grid scale, burst, image stabilizer, and photo taking timer.
The “FX & Frame” function lets the user play around with 75 different effects that they can apply to their images. The “Collage” feature allows the user to create a variety of different photo collages. The “Edit & Crop” function also allows the user to play around with color and sharpening and blurring images. The “HDR” function allows the user to play around with light and color to expose further detail in their images. The “Big Aperture” function enables the user give their images the effect that only can be seen on DSLR type cameras. The “1-Tap Enhance” feature helps the user optimize “slightly off” photos , by adding contrast and saturation. The “Color Splash” function allows the user to take control over the photo color scheme. Photos can also be sent to and shared with family and friends via email and social networking accounts.
Appearance and Layout:
The overall appearance of Fotor is appealing and eye-catching. It is bright and yet, non-distracting simultaneously. Navigation is easy, and the user can easily fiddle around with each editing and enhancement feature that the app has to offer and choose what they think would suit best for their photos. Function text is easy to read, and features are relatively self-explanatory. There were some crashing occurring while in the process of editing, but nothing really major.
For Fotor being offered for $1.99 is not a bad deal, yes, there are several popular photo editing apps available in the market today, but this app goes above and beyond what those other apps can do. It is a great app for those who love to take pictures and cannot necessarily take their actual camera out with them to everyplace they go to.
