Cook Lebanese 101 Recipes: iPhone App Written Review
One of the things we love most about the iPhone is the sheer number of educational and inspirational apps that it has supported over the years. If you own an iDevice, you can browse the App Store to learn more about other cultures, your local area, or in this case Lebanese cooking. Cook Lebanese 101 Recipes by developer Shahiya is perhaps one of the best cooking tutorials we have ever seen on the device. It brings an entire line of cooking courses to your phone, all of which—of course—carry a Lebanese theme. So if you’ve ever been interested in world cuisine, or are simply looking to expand into the Lebanese dish realm, there’s no better way to o than Cook Lebanese 101 Recipes. And for our full review, there’s no better place to go than down below the break!
Concept and Functionality
As stated, Cook Lebanese 101 Recipes intends to be your all-in-one guide on how to cook just about every Lebanese dish known to man. Okay, so maybe not that many. But still, you’ll get a whopping number of dishes—101 to be exact. These are split up amongst different categories for easy navigation, as well as meal planning. You’ll find categories like drinks, appetizers, salads, soups, vegetarian dishes, meath, chicken and fish, etc. It’s a wonderful smattering of items, and all of these selections come with a bewildering number of dishes. All in all, if you’re looking for a specific dish, we almost guarantee you’ll find it. You can even do so using the built-in search bar.
Aside from the sheer number of dishes, the app also throws in a few niceties to keep you engaged. For instance, there’s the option to add dishes as your favorite, that way you can get them later. You can also simply view photos of the food for some inspiration.
Design and Interface
Cook Lebanese 101 Recipes’ interface isn’t the most gorgeous we’ve ever seen for a cooking application, but then again, it certainly beats AllRecipes! The pa makes use of a standard tabbed navigational bar along the bottom, as well as a pleasantly green atmosphere. We liked how easy the recipes are to navigate, as well as the fact that most sections come with a vegetarian button that makes it simple to accommodate our non-meat eating friends. All in all, it’s a stellar production.
We haven’t perused the entire market, but if you’re looking to cook Lebanese food, we have a feeling the three bucks Cook Lebanese 101 Recipes costs is far cheaper than any traditional book you’ll find on the subject. As such, we can’t help but recommend it to the world cuisine cooker, as well as the dedicated Lebanese enthusiast. If you are either one of these, you’ll get a lot out of the app.
Cook Lebanese requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
