Blast Angle HD: iPhone App Written and Video Review
When it comes to games for iOS, we’re sort of picky. We don’t think this is without good reason: We’ve seen far more than our fair share of applications over the years, and as such, we have a very good handle on what’s been done and what has not. With that in mind, we’re pleased to announce today that Blast Angle HD by developer Neuchatel Ltd. is doing something completely different, and we really can’t get enough of it. It offers an entire world of cannon-based arcade action, complete with monstrously cool weapons, a detailed story, and enough explosions to satisfy the inner child. With that in mind, you an scroll on down below the break to view our whole review of Blast Angle HD.
Concept and Gameplay
Describing the basic premise behind Blast Angle HD does take some time, so we’ll try to do our best: The idea is that you are the last defender of the human race, and that you must square off against opponents in their tanks to win battles. You’ll be staged on specific levels spread far across the galaxy. At each point, you’ll need to correctly direct your missiles and bullets into the opponent, knocking out their health points until you walk away the victor—or limp away the loser! Either way, you’ll need to skillfully use the weapons given to you, as you start the game with an entire arsenal of options. Over time, you’ll use up these items, requiring you to think a lot about your next attack before you make it. Some of our readers may not like the brainy nature of the game, but in our eyes, there’s nothing finer. And after all, any game that lets us blow up our enemies in spectacular explosions can’t be that boring: Trust us when we say that Blast Angle HD is an hoot-and-a-half.
Design and Graphics
However, the absolute best thing about Blast Angle HD is the richness in its design. The app has been very well drawn out from the ground-up, starting with the gorgeous sceneries and levels. However, there are a lot of small touches that we liked. For instance, the wide variety of weapons adds so much spice to the gameplay that it’s just unreal. From there, the addition of multiple difficulty levels, an online mode, and fully destructible levels come as icing on the cake. It’s a marvelous undertaking, and it’s clear that a lot of loving effort went into making and designing Blast Angle HD.
Best of all, the app will only cost you a solid dollar in the App Store. That’s an incredible value, and it comes with so much quality gameplay that we can’t help but recommend Blast Angle HD. If you’re looking for a new arcade game to kill the afternoon with, there’s nowhere else we’d go first other than Blast Angle HD. This one comes fully recommended.
Blast Angle HD requires iOS 4.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
