My Pocket Coach: iPhone Written App Review
Need a little motivational assistance to help you get your life into gear? Look no further. The My Pocket Coach iPhone app from 2Morrow Mobile lets you create and track goals, plug into your personal trainer’s motivational flow and even build a heady collection of motivational slideshows and rewards. This highly customizable app has all the hype you need to build and stick to your life goals. But let’s see how it held up to a critical look by this app fanatic.
My Pocket Coach is broken up into several logical sections, all designed specifically to boost you towards your goals of bettering your life and getting yourself motivated and in-shape. This app is entirely customizable. You can either choose from the app’s existing habit library, which is quite thorough, or add your own custom goals and habits, complete with schedules. Then it’s just a matter of tracking them with a super easy one-touch interface, or checking out a statistical take on your progress with one of the app’s plethora of graphs, reports and charts.
Of course, all that’s just scratching the surface. You can share your progress and reports quite easily right from the app, which you can set up for free. It can even be backed up via Dropbox. How’s that for thorough? I think the app makes the most sense when you plug into custom coach content. A coach can set up a profile with custom goals and motivational content, then give their clients a coach code to plug into it for free. Setting up a premium profile of your own is gonna cost you (more about that in the Value section) but it’s well worth the small investment. After all, you’re investing in yourself.
A few improvements could make this app even better, in my opinion, such as the addition of videos and other multimedia, especially as part of a program from a coach to keep their people motivated on all fronts. If this app included workout playlists or other media, I’d be tempted to bump up its overall score.
Layout & Design:
As with many wellness and health apps, I find My Pocket Coach a bit tediously complicated. There are tons of tips and walk-throughs, which I consider evidence enough that using the app can be a bit overly complicated. However, once you have a handle on the app, it’s easy enough to track your progress with customizable goal organization and view the reports. There’s just so much data in the app, and it gets set up so quickly, that I think the average user could find it a bit overwhelming.
It’s free to download and give My Pocket Coach a try, which I love. It’s also free to access premium content if your coach gives you a code to access their custom content. If you want to set up your own, that’s an in-app purchase of $4.99 away. Again, I think that if you need a serious system of tracking and motivation, this app is a steal. I’d check the app out for free first to see if that’s you cup of tea if you’re uncertain about the method behind this app’s motivational madness.
At the end of the day My Pocket Coach is a cost-effective tool that trainers and personal consultants could truly benefit from using. Don’t be afraid to give this app a good once-over to see if it fits your personal needs.
My Pocket Coach iPhone app requires iOS 3.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
