JobAware: iPhone Written App Review
While pundits claim the economy is slowly crawling its way back towards the green, it’s still pretty challenging to find a job these days. That’s where apps designed to streamline the process and make you a more marketable candidate come into play. The new JobAware iPhone app from TapAware is just such an app. Powered by Indeed.com’s comprehensive job search, this app will give you a leg up as you find, apply for and land the job of your dreams.
JobAware wears several hats. On one hand it integrates with Indeed.com’s job search, giving you local results and a list of the top cities for finding your ideal position. It also integrates with your device contacts to help you network your way to success. It also lets you save positions you find in your search, so they’re always easy to find. You can even organize them in a few quirky categories.
But my favorite part of this app (aside from that rockin price tag) is the learn section. In this tab you can research companies, get tips on building a tip top resume and cover letter, get the down low on best interview practices and even check on standard salary. The fact that this app gives up that info without charging you a dime is just plain awesome.
As for how to improve on the app, I’d suggest adding an actual resume builder that users can plug there info into and export in style. Also, while I imagine Indeed.com is helping sponsor the app, it’s not the be-all end-all of job searches, so I’d like to see the app give users an option to search other sites as well. Otherwise, I think JobAware is a top notch app for anyone looking for work, or even considering looking for the next great thing.
Layout & Design:
The JobAware app rocks neutral navy blues for a streamlined design that’s easy on the eyes. There’s nothing horribly trail blazing about the set up, but sections are organized logically by tab and all the content is easy to read and understand. I do wish some of the info sections had a bit more pop in their design. The occasional graphic wouldn’t be misplaced here. But, in general, I have no complaints.
As I’ve mentioned once or twice, the JobAware iPhone app is entirely free. I do think it’s a great place to check for positions or get a good idea about where your job search may be the most successful. To be honest, a lot of the tips and tricks in the app are available online, but it’s nice to see them consolidated in one easy app. I definitely think JobAware is a must-have for mobile job hunters. So go get it, and put yourself one step closer to the job of your dreams.
JobAware iPhone app requires iOS 4.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
