iGipf: Written iPhone App Review

Reviewed by Philip Chan

Looking for a simple, and yet, strategically challenging game? Want something classic like the game Tic Tac Toe or Chinese Checker, but has more of a logical twist?  iGipf from developer Game Storm is just for you! This app is compatible iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), and iPad, and it also requires iOS 4.3 or later.

When iGipf initially loads, you are prompted to play the game in single player or multiplayer mode. You are also given the option to view the “How to Play” tutorial and even a “Demo”. You can also access your latest achievements and current up to date leader board. Once you select the player mode, you will see your difficulty level, which will increase as you complete and win each level. You can also choose which team color you want to be on, whether blue or red, or you select the dice icon and the app will randomly choose a team for you to play as.

The main purpose is that you and your opponent take turns in placing those tokens starting from the outer rim of the board. The user can place their piece on the edge of the board and push their opponent’s one their one piece ahead closer to the inside of the board. A player will lose the game once they run out of tokens. However, if a player manages to place four of their tokens in arrow, they are allowed to take back those tokens back into their possession. That player also gets to remove any of the opponent’s pieces located within in the same matching line as their own tokens.

Appearance and Layout:

iGiPF App Review

iGipf  has a pastel color scheme layout and is very soothing on the user’s eyes. Even the background music is relaxing and non-distracting, resembling a European café setting, and can be turned off by tapping on the music note button on the main menu screen. The background music that plays during the game is a little different, but still peaceful sounding. There are background sound effects that are made too when a player moves a token on the board. The general layout is simple, non-confusing, and easy to figure out. The game itself might be a little tricky, but after a few tries, even if the user does not look at the tutorial, they will be able to pick up the gist of the game.

iGipf is a very fun and addicting game. Not only is it strategically based, but the logic is so simple, any age group can play it. For 99 cents, this game is very, very good deal. It is classic, and will appeal to all users because it is non-frustrating and yet, still challenging. It is a highly recommended game app and will definitely provide hours of endless enjoyment.

iGipf iPhone app requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review. The iPhone app reviews rating:
