Concept and Functionality
If you’ve ever used the SleepyTi.Me website, then you have a fairly comprehensive grasp on how Proactive Sleep works. For those who aren’t familiar with the aforementioned site, we’ll do the explaining: Proactive Sleep makes it easy to know when you should go to sleep, as well as wake up, based around the amount of sleep you want to achieve. Booting up the timer part of the app features a slider that can be adjusted for your desired length of time. Once this has been set, slapping the start button automatically creates a timer for your sleep journey. This timer will wake you up at the scientifically established time that you should to avoid an interrupted sleep cycle.
However, Proactive Sleep isn’t just a fancy timer. Once you’ve woken up, you can enter the time you woke up, as well as other such information. The app also allows you to enter health information about your day (such as caffeine intake) which it then turns into health-oriented tips for a better night’s sleep. Design and Layout
As much as we liked the raw functionality of the app, we do wish it had been a bit more fluid in design. For example, the sleep timer is wonderfully simple and intuitive. However, some of the other tabs are a bit more convoluted, and require slightly more finagling. That being said, no part of the app is dysfunctional, and we had no problem using the app to improve our sleep habits. We also loved the included graphs and references aimed at educating us about our sleeping patterns.
At the end of the day, we certainly can’t knock Proactive Sleep for being a value. The dollar price tag is spot on, and for the chance to improve your daily life and sleeping behavior, it’s a great bargain. With that in mind, if you’ve been looking for just such an app, here it is at your door.
