iGoBubble: iPhone App Written and Video Review
Here at the iPhone App Review, we tend to see a lot of social photography applications in the same grain as Instagram—or any of the hundred others within the genre. However, rarely are we as excited about a new entry as we are about iGoBubble by the developer of the same name. The app offers a wholly unique and engaging way to share photos that’s one parts Pokemon and two parts TwitPic. All in all, it’s an incredible experience, and as the app continues to grow and gain followers, we have no doubts it will reach classic status sooner rather than later. For our full thoughts on the app, you can hit us up just below the break!
Concept and Functionality
Like most other apps that allow users to share photos socially over the Internet, iGoBubble works initially just as you’d expect it to. You can choose a video or photo from your gallery, or create a new one on the spot. Then, you send it to either your friends or the public space. However, the way in which you send media with iGoBubble is completely revolutionary, and we can’t get enough of it. Rather than posting your photos to a single spread, you instead send them out as “bubbles.” These bubbles are geo-located—unless sent to a specific friend—and will rest in place until someone comes along and adds them to their bag. Yes, it’s a lot like Pokemon, and that’s a great boon for the app. We loved looking for nearby bubbles, collecting the ones we liked and sharing over the ones that we were previously carrying. In the same way we love to go geocaching, so do we love to catch and proliferate our bubbles. All in all, we really have to hand it to the lads at iGoBubble—the concept is one of the best we’ve seen in a long time.
Design and Layout
In our eyes, there’s almost nothing amiss with the iGoBubble design and layout. First and foremost, the app allows you to sign-in with Facebook, saving us the pain of having to create a specific iGoBubble account. Next, the app itself looks incredible on the iPhone. We loved the interface, as well as the way nearby bubbles float across the screen just waiting for us to view and capture them. We had no problems with lag or interference, and on the whole, we found the app to be quite the enjoyable experience.
What can we say? iGoBubble is completely free in the App Store, making it a risk-free value to give a test drive. If the concept sounds like something you might be interested in, we highly recommend you give it a go. As the app grows and gains more followers, it will only get better. And personally, we can’t wait for that day to arrive. iGoBubble is a must-have.
iGoBubble requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
