HeyCheck: iPhone Written App Review
No matter how you like to snap and share, it’s easy to admit that it’s been a great couple of years for mobile media sharing. The next step in making your photos stars is easy with HeyCheck. This app from Andrea Veneto connects you to a worldwide network of photo sharing and plugs you in to your favorite photo sharing programs, Facebook and Instagram.
HeyCheck is its own global photo community, and that’s easy to tell from the map and popular tab. There you can connect to other savvy photo snappers around the world, and share your thoughts.
But, on a more basic level, the HeyCheck iPhone app is a photo taker and editor. In the capture tab you can either use a photo from your camera roll, Facebook or Instagram or capture a brand new pic. If you use the app to capture a new photo you have control right off the bat. You can add filters, adjust the flash level and stylize your pic before you even snap it in a real time preview. Don’t worry, the same cool filters are available for pics you pull from one of your other sources.
Once you’re done giving your photos a personal touch, you can share them via Facebook or Instagram, see them on the HeyCheck worldwide map or just let the app auto save your creations to your camera roll.
One of the best things about this app is that it’s so easy to use, but more about that after the cut.
Layout & Design:
While so many photo taking and editing apps can get overwhelmed with buttons and options, the HeyCheck iPhone app does a pretty good job of keeping it simple. The interface is organized by bottom tab, and your editing options are just a tap away at any given time while you’re taking or working on a picture.
To be honest, the color scheme in this app isn’t the hottest thing out there. While the green, blue and brown motif is easy to see and navigate through, it also comes across as a bit dated for some reason. We suggest a bit of a facelift for the app, at least when it comes to the hues used throughout the app.
One easy way to tell if an app can hold its salt is to give its map UI a workout. And we did just that, zooming, panning, tapping, back in and out of photo streams, and we’re glad to say this app definitely has the goods. It didn’t falter or freeze or throw up a single error, and that’s always nice.
The app’s free. So if you’re looking for a new way to share your photos or just want to see what the rest of the world is getting up to, HeyCheck is a must see. The photo editing filters are interesting, unique and well made. You really have nothing to lose by giving this awesome app a fair shot.
HeyCheck iPhone app requires iOS 4.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
