CookieCoo DancingStar HD: iPhone App Written Review
Do you remember all those old nursery songs you used to sing back in the day? You know, the sort that came with a catchy melody and an educational message attached? How cool would it be if you could pass those same songs along to your children, only using modern technology? We think it would be pretty awesome, and apparently, so did developers ThinkCube in their latest app CookieCoo DancingStar HD. The app provides an engagingly rhythmic way for your children to become involved with these tunes, adding to their developmental knowledge while keeping them entertained: A winning combination to just about every parent we know. Concept and Functionality
The idea behind CookieCoo DancingStar HD is relatively simple, and has been designed that way: The app mimics what adult apps like Tap Tap are doing for rhythmic gameplay, but instead of delivering top-pop hits, create an atmosphere of fun education. The app presents your child with an assortment of popular nursery songs, including “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” “Ten Little Indians” and “Jenny Jenkins” amongst many more. The app allows your child to play them all, and with the additional option of choosing between three unique instruments and five characters. All of these are pretty cute, and dance along as your child taps out the notes. These notes fall from the top of the application exactly as they would in any other rhythm-based game, though understandably the sensitive of the three music pads has been decreased to work well with small fingers. All in all, it’s a cute bundle, and the gameplay itself is solid enough to keep any child entertained.
Design and Graphics
As great as the app’s gameplay is, though, we have a feeling the real draw for children will be the cartoon appearance, cute characters, and never-ending endearing nature of the graphics. The characters look like they’ve been ripped right off the Saturday morning television, and though the cuteness is borderline The Wiggles, we have a feeling most children won’t be as grossed out as we were—there’s a compliment wrapped up in there we promise. What we’re really trying to say, we guess, is that the graphics are spot-on, and are excellent for the field that will be playing the app. Your children will love it, and therefore, so will you.
Typically, these sort of educational apps cost quite a bit of change: However, CookieCoo DancingStar HD will set you back only a dollar, which is an unbelievable steal for any tech-oriented parent. The app comes with a lot of quality songs and gameplay, making it an ideal candidate for your child’s next edutainment option. If your child’s development is at the top of your to-do list, then CookieCoo DancingStar HD is a must-have.
