youBonobo: iPhone Written App Review
If you were born between 1948 and 1996 and have a thing for publicly tallying the notches in your bed post, so to speak, our iPhone app review of the new youBonobo app may be right up your alley. This free app of a swingng nature from XAMGACOM GmbH is a worldwide platform where users compete for top lover. Yeah, we’re not kidding. Read on, faithful app review fans. This one’s a doozy.
You heard us right, youBonobo is an app where you create a profile and log your love making sessions. Then you can compare yourself to several online leader boards to see how you stack up. Are you the busiest person in your country? How about the world, or just the last seven days? Yeah, that’s all easy to tell. The youBonobo app has active users in 20 countries, so there are plenty of stats out there to peruse.
Let’s get real, the concept for this app is hilarious. Make love, not war folks! That’s the message of youBonobo. Registration is as easy as pie, and you don’t have to link the app to your Facebook account (thank goodness) or even enter your email address if you don’t want to. However, you can share from the app if you choose, although we had a few issues with this interface being non responsive.
It’s a bit of an exhibition, youBonobo. But thankfully the app doesn’t support status updates or even messaging other users. It’s strictly a numbers game, which keeps it from becoming overrun with crazy horny users bragging about their latest lays. On a more educational note, after a little digging we found out that the bonobo is a species of chimpanzee famous for its sexual exploits. Coincidence? We think not.
Layout & Design:
The youBonobo iPhone app gives users several different options for viewing their statistics, from an easily understood graph to a number oriented set of rating boards. Recording your conquest is decidedly easily. Once you’ve logged in to the application a simple tap of the “I did it!” button will add to your sexual tally. The button does appear on the log in screen, but it’s useless until you’re logged in. We just assume the designer couldn’t resist the urge to show that button off right out of the game.
The pink and white motif of the youBonobo app is easy to view and navigate. Options are organized in a simple bottom tab design. It’s not the most visually interesting app we’ve ever seen, but it’s serviceable.
As we mentioned earlier, the share links in the app (especially the ones under “More”) were a bit buggy and unresponsive. We also experienced some issues with the app’s map interface. Scrolling and zooming were extremely slow and jerky. The app was still functional, but could use a bit of housekeeping to keep it in tip top performance shape.
If youBonobo sounds like something you want to get in on you’re in luck (no pun intended). The app is entirely free to download for and register on. Do we think it’s a global governmental program to track our sexual escapades for futuristic marketing tactics? Possibly. But that doesn’t keep this app from being a highly diverting way of passing the time and seeing how you stack up to the global getting-busy competition.
youBonobo iPhone app requires iOS 4.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
