Howdy, partner. If you’re looking for a gun slinging, horse riding, train robbing good ole time, you’ve come to the right place. Our iPhone app review of the new Stop Me If You Can iPhone app is all that and a bag of potato chips. This tilt-friendly title comes to us from App-Arise GmbH and it’s one wild west ride you’re not gonna want to miss. “Stop Me If You Can” will be free for a day on 03/01/2012!

There is no backstory per say in the Stop Me If You Can iPhone app. However there is a ton of action. You play a gunslinger on horseback in hot pursuit of a moving train. Tilt controls come into play in this app as you race along, jump over obstacles, duck to avoid enemy fire and tunnels, and take your best shot at your enemies along the way.

For a little additional excitement, many levels in Stop Me If You Can feature shoot-em-out duels with bosses. Again, you’ll tilt to avoid shots and to make your’s count. It’s a nice break from the standard gameplay style of the app.

There’s also a huge amount of customization, both to your weapon arsenal and to your own personal appearance. The shop interface in this app is pretty cool, although it doesn’t always explain what good items do you. Guess you’ll just have to buy a few and find out.

Layout & Design:

Stop Me If You Can

A clean set of 2D graphics help propel Stop Me If You Can along the proverbial railway. Navigating the app is relatively easy, and learning how to play is a snap, especially if you take a moment to read over the app’s brief tutorial.

We found ourselves wishing for a bit more variety from the app’s scene as the trains kept rolling in, otherwise the app is entirely non-offensive in the looks department

As a brief aside, the content of Stop Me If You Can is not entirely child-friendly. Not only is there the occasional splash of red on the screen, the game also sounds like it exclaims “Awww, shit” when you die. That may not be what the app developers intended, but it’s definitely the case. Yeah, that’s not exactly child-friendly, parents, so proceed with caution.

Overall Value:

The Stop Me If You Can iPhone app costs $.99, and that’s a heck of a deal. There is a pretty tempting in-app purchase system that can help you get ahead with ease, but there’s no reason to shell out any extra cash to enjoy the app. That’s definitely a deciding factor in our good review of this app.

If you’re a fan of the Wild West, or just like a good shoot ‘em up app, we highly recommend giving Stop Me If You Can a gander.

Feb. 28, 2012 UPDATE: According to the developer, the next version of this application will not contain the word “shit.” So parents, you can rest easy about any future download.
