Meeting Gold: iPad Written App Review
The iPad has firmly established itself as an iOS workhorse, and now you can use it to organize meetings, collaborate, keep track and assign tasks with Meeting Gold. This iPad app from Burgar Software takes the idea of organization to a whole other level with a heady mix of to-do spirit and get-it-done attitude. Our iPad app review of Meeting Gold will help you learn how to get the most out of this business-centric app.
Meeting Gold is about organizing, prioritizing and taking charge of your business meetings like never before. Forget scribbling in a messy note pad or scrambling to remember to write out and email people assigned tasks. The Meeting Gold iPad app lets you outline meetings on-the-go (or anywhere, really), invite participants, layout the entire discussion for optimal productivity, add notes, photos and tasks and more.
And that’s just the beginning. Once your meeting or call is created the magic really begins. Adding to this document is extremely simple during the meeting, so you can create new tasks, add comments, introduce media and add new participants on the fly.
One feature that we were looking for since this app claims to be the best thing since sliced bread for meetings was a recording option, since even on an iPad it can be hard to catch each and every detail that passes.
Otherwise the app is brilliant. If your fellow meeting attendees have the Meeting Gold app you can update and share tasks with ease. Exporting a meeting agenda with all its notes via email is ridiculously easy. The app actually sorts tasks in over 20 ways and supports an integrated search, so finding what you want shouldn’t be difficult at all. Ideal, in a fast-paced business setting where this app is sure to shine.
Layout & Design:
Like so many business-centric apps, Meeting Gold is decidedly utilitarian. Streamlined is the name of the game here. It works quite well, despite being a bit uninspiring. The work space is neat, in white and shades of grey, with the occasional yellow pop.
On the up side there are two built in styles: plain and relaxed. Relaxed uses a slightly less formal text, so if you’re the cool boss you might want to go relaxed. If you’re a hardnosed task master, keep it plain. It’s sure to inspire the most awe and fear among your peons.
We can’t help but feel that the app could be dressed up a bit if the team really wanted to. Offer some more colorful skins or different presentation layouts. How about a table of contents for each meeting since they can get so long? Just a few ideas.
A lot of business apps are expensive. But instead of charging you an arm and a leg, Meeting Gold can be downloaded for $9.99. Keep in mind this app doesn’t feature any separate security and works with your regular data connection. Still, we think Meeting Gold is one of the most cost effective, highly productive business apps we’ve seen in a long time. If you crave iPad business organization, it’s here.
Meeting Gold iPhone app requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
