EasyLang Pro: iPhone Written App Review
EasyLang Pro is a mobile solution for mastering the basics of a new language. This verbose offering comes from Sam Educational, and features vocabulary, spelling and conversational skills six different languages for one reasonable price. There’s a lot to love there, and, naturally, our iPhone app review of EasyLang Pro will let you know just what to look for.
I don’t think we’ve ever seen a language app with as much raw language information tucked inside and at such an attractive price. EasyLang Pro gives users ample practice with vocabulary lessons, drills, repetitive audible pronunciation for each word, spelling and flashcard games to increase learning retention, and even an awesome visual representation of each word to help engrain them in your brain. And of course the same features are available to help the user learn French, Spanish, Italian, German, English and even Macedonian.
Macedonian? Yeah, we didn’t see that one coming, but it’s a strangely compelling and underrepresented language out there in the app world, so it’s a welcome addition in EasyLang Pro.
By breaking words down in categories, it’s easy to practice commonly used terms with the app, such as conversational phrases, numbers or colors. It also features an extremely useful searchable dictionary, so if you’re ever in a language pinch this app could come to the rescue right quick.
So, the feature set is sweet. But how does it hold up to a critical eye and users that push the app to its limits? Find out after the cut.
For the first round of word learning and in-app quizzing, EasyLang Pro delivered admirably. Unfortunately, when we tried to open the spelling games for the first time, the app started having some issues.
Not only did the spelling game freeze after we answered correctly, the app also started freezing when we were trying to start a quiz in a new section. Then it took several attempts to get EasyLang Pro to even launch. It was a bit frustrating. After a few force closes the freeze issue seemed to clear up, only to rear its ugly head again a little while later in an entirely different portion of the app.
There’s no doubt in our minds that EasyLang Pro is an awesome app for learning the basics of a new language, or even polishing existing skills, especially when it comes to spelling and writing in the new tongue. It’s a bit unfortunate that the app needs some maintenance, but since the substance is good we are sure the developers will get the bugs fixed soon.
Downloading EasyLang Pro costs $5.99. That’s a heck of a deal, folks, especially when you consider the methodology and the enormous wealth of the information available via this app. If you have a bit of patience, we suggest getting it now and enjoying the performance updates as they come through.
EasyLang Pro iPhone app requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
