Slice: iPhone Written App Review
According to most major sources, online shopping is up 15 percent this holiday season. While it’s gotten easier to find great deals on what you want online, keeping track of those purchases can be a daunting task. Until now. The Slice app for iOS from Slice developers is the perfect companion app to shopping online. It organizes your shipment info in a single sync. If you’re a Yahoo! email or Gmail user, you won’t want to miss our iPhone app review of Slice.
As we mentioned, Slice does it all. It trolls your Gmail or Yahoo! mail box and folders, finds your orders and puts the information you need a click away. Accessing your placed, shipped and received orders has never been easier.
Forget about digging through your inbox or sorting through receipts. With Slice you can view your order, access tracking info, keep tabs on what you spent, view customer service contact info and even review return policies for online sellers, right from the app. Best of all? This app sends you push notifications when item statuses change. So you’ll know as soon as someone signs for a delivery, or an item leaves the warehouse.
So far Slice sounds like the best thing for online shoppers since Cyber Monday, but there are a few limitations. The app does not support international order info, and users can only sync Yahoo! mail or Gmail accounts with the app, all other online shoppers are out of luck.
We didn’t find these two limitations horribly troubling, but we did find ourselves wishing the app allowed you to sync more than one Gmail and one Yahoo! mail account at a time. That’s our only real complaint though. Slice is super convenient and definitely delivers.
Layout & Design:
Slice sorts all the info you could ever want about your packages in a sleek user interface with bright touches and a fool proof design. It’s easy to keep track of your spending with a total spent and items order counter on the app’s home page.
Viewing details about your orders, delivers and history is simple. Either tap the corresponding category on the home page, or choose the appropriate tab from the bottom of the app. This navigational redundancy makes sure you find what you’re looking for fast.
If you’re worried about the Slice iPhone app’s functionality, don’t be. Not only does it sync your order info fast, the push notifications are extremely timely, and you can even turn off Netflix and iTunes order info if it’s gumming up the works.
One function we looked for but didn’t find was an option to edit the length of time the Slice app syncs. We ended up with purchases from as far back as 2006 popping up in the app, and while that’s a helpful way to see all your spending history, it isn’t particularly useful if you’re just trying to track holiday spending.
If all our glowing descriptions of Slice didn’t convince you yet, try the price tag on for size. Slice is completely free. Frankly, that’s pretty amazing. This app is very well made, extremely useful and entirely gratis. What’s not to love? If you’re an online shopper you simply must have Slice.
Slice iPhone app requires iOS 4.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
