Santafy Me: iPhone Written App Review
Dress up your pics with Santafy Me, a new app from Frisbee BV that lets you add seasonal clip art to photos then send and share them in the name of holiday cheer. This is one of our favorite Christmas apps we’ve seen this year, so you definitely want to pay attention to our iPhone app review of Santafy.
Santafy Me lets you use photos from your camera roll or take original pics from the app and turn them into holiday gold. The app does take a few moments to set up, due to a photo download, but once they’re in the app it’s solid gold.
Simply choose your photo or take a new one right from the app. Then scroll through the item galleries. Choose from beards, hats, clothing, animals, extras and titles. Each clip art piece can be resized and rotated for optimal effects. A few basic editing features, like a layering control, help keep the pics merry and bright.
Oh, boy, are they ever merry and bright. It’s almost too easy to turn any picture into a winter wonderland. We love that they included borders and winter-themed props. While there is definitely some variety here we’d love to see even more options for clip art, or the ability to import additional items.
Sharing is easy, and you can move pics to your camera roll, upload them to Santafy Me’s polaroid gallery, post directly to Twitter from the app or email creations on the spot. We do wish the app had a separate gallery for your creations, and that the polaroid gallery in the app was a bit easier to navigate and see in. A Facebook direct upload option would be great, too. Maybe that’s what we’ll ask Santa for this year.
Using Santafy Me is easy and a lot of fun, and the results are pretty darn amazing. Unfortunately we had a pretty rough time getting the app to work. It took almost a week of removing and reinstalling it before we could download the image library. We kept getting an error message. It was in Dutch, which only made the situation more confusing. A little translation help decoded the message, which basically told us that we weren’t able to download images at this time.
Once we were able to get the image library installed this app worked perfectly. Hopefully this was just a glitch that the devs got around to fixing.
Santafy Me is a steal at just $.99. It’s content is original and interesting, and it works double duty as a universal app. You need to download Santafy Me now and start spreading Christmas cheer through doctored photos.
Santafy Me iPhone app requires iOS 3.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
