RememberThat! iPhone App Video Review
Do you have really interesting friends? Friends you wish you could put on Comedy Central for the whole world to enjoy, just as much as you do? Or maybe it’s your family that’s an hoot-and-a-half. Do you have a young daughter or son that says the darnedest things? No matter what you’re trying to capture, RememberThat! by developer Dejagged is the best way to do it. The app acts like a recorder in reverse, preserving moments that have already passed for you and your friends to enjoy. For our full thoughts on this unique audio recorder for the iPhone, check below beyond the break!
Concept and Functionality
Unlike other audio recorders for the iPhone and iPad, which tend to work in a forwards motion, RememberThat! does the complete opposite: The app allows you to save recorded moments up to thirty seconds ago. These recordings can be made with the click of a button, and then played back instantly in the recordings tab. This allows for a nearly unlimited number of conversational possibilities, but if you’ve ever been having a riveting conversation with your mates, you might have already decided on a few benefits. For instance, do you have a friend who consistently produces some of the best one liners you’ve ever heard? How many times have you said to yourself, “If only I could have recorded that!” Now, thanks to RememberThat!, you actually can.
For the most part, we were pleasantly surprised by how well the app works. It was quick and easy to make recordings, although we did have the app freeze and crash on us a total of two times. This was hardly a deterrent, though, and we quickly found ourselves back for more.
Design and Layout
Likewise, we were equally impressed by the simplistic design and implementation of the app’s mechanic. There’s no button mashing required to make carbon copies of moments gone by. Rather, the app listens all on its own, requiring only a tap to solidify forever the audio that was just created. We do wish the recordings were slightly higher quality, as often our memories were sharpen than the distorted playbacks. We also would have appreciated quick exporting controls to other sound utilities, or even just social media giants like Facebook or Twitter. That being said, it’s still nice to be able to email our friends with their highlights from last night’s conversation.
Clocking in at $1.99 in the App Store, RememberThat! is exactly one dollar higher than we might like, especially for an app that’s still quite a novelty. That being said, RememberThat! is a load of fun, and will keep everyone involved entertained for hours. And for that experience, the price is right, even without higher quality recordings, a lengthier time limit, and limited exporting functionality.
RememberThat! requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
