Pocket Scanner: iPhone Video App Review
Bring your business with you with Pocket Scanner, a PDF creator and document manager from Kdan Mobile Software. This all-in-one file management solution lets you scan documents with ease, manage them with unique editing tools, connect to cloud based services and more, for the ultimate in convenient file management. If you’re ready to take your business with you on-the-go, you’ll love our iPhone app review of Pocket Scanner.
Pocket Scanner is the ideal app for capturing documents on-the-go, modifying them, managing them and sharing them. Use your camera roll or the in-app camera to import images into the app. There’s a healthy set of editing tools to improve scanned scenes, from the black and white balance to the margins. To be clear, you cannot write on or create brand new documents with this app, just complete basic visual editing and compile images in PDF format.
Import multiple images to one scan project to combine them in PDF format. Then share your new document through email, add it to a password protected folder or connect to cloud based sharing services. Pocket Scanner supports Box.net, iDisk, Dropbox, Google Docs, Wi Fi and FTP clients for file transfer. Use the cloud menu to safely access your cloud services and transfer files with a touch. There’s no fuss.
A recent app update gave the Pocket Scanner iPhone app additional functionality. The update highlights include:
- FTP client support
- Sort option for scanned projects
- Share scanned images via e-mail
- Scanned project file manager
- Rotation option for scanned images
- Additional iOS 5 compatibility
The app also supports opening and viewing a wide variety of file types, supports zip functionality and has a built in Web browser for even easier access to downloadable files. That’s a hefty list of functions, but we expected no less from the makers of PDF Reader.
Layout & Design:
So many work-related apps skip the style, but the Pocket Scanner app’s intro menu is actually kinda cool. It features four round button-style menu icons. Throughout the app thumbnail representations of images help keep it lively so you’re not just staring at a black and white list of files.
The documents themselves are easy to edit. Find the file you want to adjust, hold it for a few seconds, then release. The same gesture opens the edit menu when you are actually in a file. Organizing and moving files is simple with a standard edit button. It can be a little daunting to navigate this app with confidence right off the bat. We suggest spending a little time in the help menu to get acquainted.
For professionals or students with document-heavy career fields, Pocket Scanner could very well be a life saver. The editing options alone make it a stand out in a field of shabby scanners. With a price tag of $1.99 you’re not going to break the bank adding this app to your arsenal, and you’ll probably recover your money in time saved in no time at all.
Pocket Scanner iPhone app requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
