FunJeju: iPhone App Video Review
Are you planning a trip to the beautifully scenic southern Korean island of Jeju-Do? Or are you just considering an holiday to the region, and would like to know a little bit more about the accommodations, attractions, and nightlife? No matter what your reason for taking an interest in the southernmost part of South Korea, we have the perfect app to meet your needs: FunJeju, by the developer Infomind. The app comes with all the information you’ll ever need about the tourist spot, as well as a gorgeous interface and stellar price-tag to boot! For our full thoughts on this holiday friendly application, check below beyond the break!
Concept and Functionality
In much the same way that a travel guide acts as your vacation companion, serving up information about local attractions and points of interest, so does FunJeju do the same for your trip to Jeju-Do. No matter what you’re looking for on the island, the application not only has the information you need, but a whole host of additional materials to help you along. No matter if you’re looking for local accommodations, attractions, food, shopping, vehicles, or activities, FunJeju has your every whim and want covered. This includes geo-tagged location points, displayed in relation to your proximity. Likewise, there’s also an heap of reviews to browse through, in case you’re undecided about a restaurant or hotel. And lastly, the app even comes with coupons for most of the listed institutions: In essence, the app not only helps you find your perfect getaway, but helps you to save money once you get there.
That being said, the app was a little slow during our time with it. We’d often press a category, and then suffer a thirty second wait before the information itself loaded. This isn’t a deal breaker, and is certainly more of an annoyance than anything. But when the hardware supports so much more, we couldn’t help but mention it.
Design and Layout
It’s worth noting that FunJeju’s design is absolutely flawless. The app is lively, creative, and features some truly stellar artwork. All of the restaurants and businesses one needs view through the application are arranged in a smooth floating tile arrangement that we particularly enjoyed, as well. However, we did have one small complaint: So much of the app is still in Korean. We’re all for a Global Village, but though we might wish we spoke Korean, we sadly do not. This isn’t such a problem, unless the review you’re trying to read, or the coupon you’re trying to use, is in a language you don’t understand.
That being said, it’s certainly hard to argue with FunJeju’s price tag. The app is completely free in the App Store, easily making it one of the best bargains around for a trip to the Jeju-Do region. If you’re planning on making a visit, you owe it to yourself to download the app. Despite our niggles, you won’t be disappointed, and we guarantee you’ll enjoy your vacation more, thanks to FunJeju.
FunJeju requires iOS 4.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
