System Monitor with Battery Max: iPhone App Written Review
Looking for a one stop app that can manage memory, predict battery life and otherwise optimize your iPhone user experience? Look no further. The System Monitor with Battery Max iPhone app from Tekton Technologies has you covered, from CPU usage deets to MAC address.
The System Monitor with Battery Max iPhone app lets you monitor and free up memory, view current battery charge data including estimated charging time and how long your iPhone will run doing certain tasks, check which processes are running, view available disk space details, track CPU usage and even access general device info such as your UDID, MAC address and BUS frequency.
Is it the most comprehensive system utility we’ve ever seen? No. But it does give users a solid, high level view of their iPhone’s inner workings. It’s also extremely convenient to find the UDID, MAC address, IP address and other details in one central location. No more digging through your settings menu for this information.
System Monitor with Battery Max also allows you to close memory hungry apps right from the app. Simply navigate to the Memory In Use tab (it’s the first one), double tap the home button and close apps just like you would on any other screen. Just remember to touch the screen to close this option. Touching the home button again will close the monitoring app.
Layout & Design:
All too often utility apps are rendered in boring black and grey, functional but uninspiring. That’s definitely not the case with the System Monitor with Battery Max iPhone app. Not only are stats displayed in bright graphs and charts, some of them are illustrated with speedometer style graphics, complete with roaring engine sound effects.
My favorite design detail is in the battery menu. A custom colored liquid fills the cavernous battery shell to demonstrate your current charge. The page produces a satisfying electric charge graphic and sound when the iPhone is plugged in. And, best of all, the battery splits and rotates open to display battery life estimates based on usage. It’s a sweet touch.
Get in on the deal of the day. System Monitor with Battery Max is available at the reduced rate of $.99 for a short time. Once the sale is over, it will run you $1.99, still an admirable price for this convenient, polished app. So next time you want to know what apps are dragging down your battery life, how long you can play Angry Birds before your battery dies or exactly how much room you have left on your iPhone, reach for System Monitor with Battery Max. It’s a heck of a value.
System Monitor with Battery Max iPhone app requires iOS 4.1 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
