Jumpy Horse: iPhone App Video Review
Do you love horses? Then we have an iPhone app you’re going to buck for joy over. Jumpy Horse is an interactive iPhone app from Internet Reshenia where you build a beautiful herd of horses, play challenging mini games and can even battle fellow horse lovers for top scores via Game Center.
But don’t take our word for it. Saddle up and ride into the sunset, or at least into our iPhone app review of Jumpy Horse.
In Jumpy Horse you play with horses in a series of scored mini games. In Let’s Jump you kick, leap, buck and run to try to shake a determined rider. The Jumping game tests your coordination as you send your horse flying over all kinds of obstacles. In Run with the Foal you must play with and protect a young member of your herd. There’s also an interactive paint feature where you can choose from a wide pallet or create custom colors to decorate your four legged friends, and a Let’s Pasture mode where you frolic and feed.
Thanks to a recent update the app, Jumpy Horse supports multiplayer games via Wi-Fi with Game Center support for devices with iOS 3.2.2 or later. It also has a great screen capture option that allows you to take pictures of your equine friends, and a fun wallpaper section with tons of pictures horse lovers are sure to enjoy.
One of our favorite things about the app? You can create custom horses with the Let’s Paint interface. We do wish this section had a bit more variety (where is the option for a paint horse or one with socks and star?), and user reviews list this as the top request for the app.
Layout & Design:
Needless to say, there are a lot of complex graphics in the Jumpy Horse iPhone app. The 3D rendering can be a bit rough in places, but most scenes and horses are colorful, sure to delight young horse lovers.
The app’s user interface is a bit sketchy at times, especially while trying to control a horse in one of the mini games. Several times we couldn’t even get the horse to turn around and get back to the game, it just perpetually trotted to the left. Normally a two fingered touch is all it takes.
We did appreciate the wide variety of scene options, from snowy fields to shore side dunes. Still, these graphics are quite simple. We also had an issue with the create-your-own-scene interface. A large black patch covered a portion of the screen and we were unable to place any props.
It’s hard to resist this deal, partner. Jumpy Horse costs just $.99. So even if there are a few kinks to work out, it’s well worth the small investment. There are no advertisements or in-app purchase options. The app also experiences frequent updates, so it’s bound to get better over time.
Bottom line: Jumpy Horse is an app horse lovers can’t afford to miss, with a lot of potential.
Jumpy Horse iPhone app requires iOS 3.2.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
