JumiCam: iPhone App Written Review
Utilizing a desktop client called Jumi Controller, the JumiCam iPhone app puts you front and center. Whatever the webcam you are monitoring sees, you see. And, with certain audio systems, you can even hear what’s being said.
There is no limit to the number of cameras you can monitor with JumiCam, although this does require a password, so you can’t barge in on your neighbor’s webcam for a chat.
A recent updated added the awesome option to speak into the app and have the connected device relay your words. Think of it like a long distance intercom system.
JumiCam runs over Wi-Fi (local and remote), Edge and 3G, so you don’t have to be close to a camera to monitor it. As long as a computer is running the desktop client and you’re logged in on both ends, you can monitor cam feeds across the world.
Snap shot capture, streaming options and auto connect help round out this stellar app.
The practical applications for this amazing monitoring app are limitless. Use JumiCam to keep tabs on your kids, see what your pet is up to, as a security video monitor, or even to view a computer’s desktop activity.
That means if your TV is synced to your PC you can actually watch television anywhere with JumiCam, right on your iPhone.
Whether you use the JumiCam iPhone app for business or pleasure, it’s an amazingly versatile tool for monitoring systems and staying in touch.
Utilizing unique streaming technology, the JumiCam iPhone app streams high quality video with relatively small amounts of data. That’s a welcome fact for iPhone users without unlimited data plans, and the video quality is really quite good.
JumiCam’s desktop component, Jumi Controller, is compatible with Windows XP, Windows Vista, and both versions of Windows 7. Unfortunately, at this time it is not Mac compatible.
Jumi Controller must be running on your PC for you to connect to the webcam. Your computer should be powered on and not in sleep or hibernation mode. The controller can be set up to run automatically every time the computer is powered on and the app icon can be hidden, for optimal sneaky monitoring.
JumiCam is available for download on all your iOS devices with version 3.0 or higher for $5.99. That’s cheaper, and easier, than hiding an expensive camera in a teddy bear to keep tabs on the nanny. The desktop component, Jumi Controller, does not cost any additional money and can be installed on as many PCs and webcams as your heart desires.
While it’s not the least expensive iPhone app we’ve ever reviewed, JumiCam is an extremely efficient, easy to use webcam monitor that works like a charm. It’s well worth the small investment to get connected.
JumiCam iPhone app requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
