iPoints Rewards: iPhone App Video Review
My grandmother had a saying: If it’s free, it’s too good to be true. Okay, so maybe she didn’t, but we’ve all heard the expression at some point in our lives. However, in the case of iPoints Rewards, by developer Apps That Rock, free really is free. The app makes it incredibly easy to download content from the iTunes catalog while earning points—points that can be cashed in for hard-money rewards. It’s a unique concept, but one that actually works, and without limiting your media selection. If you don’t believe us, or simply want a bit more information about the procedure, go ahead and peep the rest of our written review after the break!
Concept and Selection
In the same way that one can earn rewards from, say, using a credit card, why can’t a body earn quality cash from simply downloading Internet media? That’s a question the developer’s at Apps That Rock asked, and the end result of the pontifications is the aptly named iPoints Rewards. In essence, the app rewards you for purchasing specific media items, including music and movies from the iTunes store. The process is effectively simple: Just download any of the listed items in-app, and you’re immediately compensated with a set number of points for doing so. These points add up, and once they’ve reached a required level, can be cashed-in for such benefits as a PayPal deposit, an Amazon Gift Card, or even real money at Target or Walmart. It’s a strange concept, being able to pay for groceries by downloading Katy Perry tunes, but there it is.
Overall, we were quite impressed with the selections available, as well. Most of the Top 40 hits were presents, as well as some serious blockbuster hits. We’re slightly saddened that we won’t be finding Nick O’Connor and the Mad Ones (or any of our other unlabeled favorites) in the track listings, but we can’t say we’re disappointed by the included offerings.
Design and Layout
We were immediately impressed by just how seamless the entire points process really is. With the single tap of a button, you can purchase any song or movie while earning immediate rewards points. Not only that, but the fact that all of your purchases are saved to a convenient history tab is a tremendous bonus. Wondering where your points have been accumulating? Simply take a gander and educate yourself. It’s top-notch design, and we couldn’t be happier with it.
At the end of the day, if you don’t mind a little loss in selectivity and are willing to earn a few dollars in return, iPoints Rewards is a convenient way to make a load of cash from doing something you already do: Download media. It’s a unique idea, and we’re glad to see this sort of consumer-oriented innovation hitting the market. Solid stuff, and iPoints Rewards earns our full recommendation.
iPoints Rewards requires iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
