Watee iPhone App Video Review
Watch out, physics apps. There’s a new kid on the block and he’s not afraid to cry to get his way.
Meet the Watee iPhone app from UNNYHOG Entertainment. During out iPhone app review we found this app to be one part puzzler, two parts savvy water physics, with a health dash of epic cuteness. That makes Watee the latest hot app on our watch list.
Concept & Gameplay:
Utilizing a finely honed set of in-app physics, the Watee iPhone app will have you channeling eighth grade earth science class as you use precipitation, condensation, evaporation, gravity, wind and a bit of plain old ingenuity to fill a bowl full of water.
Why, you may ask? Because there’s an adorable purple blob at the bottom who’ll sob if you don’t. Watee wants his bath and by gosh he’s gonna get it.
Of course, it’s not going to be easy. Shelves, heaters, coolers and other stationary objects are going to be in your way.
One nice change from other physics puzzlers is that you can move the water faucet along the top of the screen for a custom game. Many levels have mobile parts you can use to direct the flow towards the bowl. Position them to your heart’s content. Each level seems to have several solutions, so however you get the bowl full is your own business.
One of my only complaints is that the Watee iPhone app is ridiculously challenging right off the bat. Never fear, a 1.2 update is already with Apple for approval. While the update will not change the game’s general mechanics, it will make some of those impossible levels a bit more possible.
In the meantime there’s a sneaky skip level option you can use. There are 40 levels in the Watee iPhone app. Trust us when we say that you will not get bored with this game. It’s really something special.
Layout & Design:
Graphically the Watee iPhone app is on par with other high quality physics apps. Images are clear, responsive and really quite good.
Our purple hero is a bit reminiscent of Cut the Rope’s Om Nom, however his facial expressions and sweet water diving moves are all his own.
A peppy tune fills the background space, and each fan, burner, bubbler and sponge comes with their own tasteful set of tones.
After playing the Watee iPhone app you may never look at filling a cup of water the same way again. Once version 1.2 comes out to mellow the app’s steep learning curve it will really be something special. Coming in at the stellar price of $.99 this app has set itself up to compete with the best.
While there are a few quality water physics games out there, the unique combination of smart puzzles, an adorable purple mascot that could pass for Grimace’s much smaller brother and self-styled solutions makes the Watee iPhone app one to watch.
Watee iPhone app requires iOS 3.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
