Snapzing iPhone App Video Review
Want to get in on the action? It’s free, and our iPhone app review of Snapzing will tell you how.
Concept & Gameplay:
We love contest apps here at The iPhone App Review, especially when they combine something you do with your iPhone any way (like taking pictures) and a little friendly competition. That’s just what the Snapzing iPhone app does.
Every day a new photo contest goes live. You can either snap a picture right from the app or pull from your existing camera roll. Enter as many photos as you want. Then it’s up to you, your friends and other Snapzing users to vote for the top pic.
Snapzing interfaces directly with Facebook, but only if you want it to. It’s a great way to earn some boosts for your shot. An extensive comment system also lets you connect with other users in an instant.
Contest themes are pretty fun and range from epic shots of you doing the finger squish, to pics of your cutest pets, and hit every topic in between. There are always a few competitions going on, and dozens of pictures to look through and judge, so this app does not get boring.
Wonder what you’re going to win? Prizes range from practical to downright silly. For example, one of the current contests awards a Darth Vader lunch box to its top points earner. In the other you can win a small wooden box shaped like a heart. They may not be the hottest prizes out there, but hey, they’re free.
Layout & Design:
Despite having a lot of content the Snapzing iPhone app is super easy to navigate and use. Scroll through ongoing contests with a simple swipe of your finger. Access your personal information, contests you are participating in and general app info from the top of the screen.
Taking a photo, adding a caption and navigating through contests is also pretty streamlined. We had no complaints using this app. Even judging photos just takes a single tap, and you can always scroll through the photos in a contest using a swipe gesture.
Best of all? The Snapzing iPhone app is 100 percent free to download and play. Of course, there is a catch, especially since the app is suspiciously ad free. An in-app currency called boosts can be used to raise your photo score and help you win challenges. After you spend your initial allotment, boosts must be purchased in-app for cash.
That’s a bit disappointing, especially since we’d like to imagine that the best photo will win Snapzing prizes, cold hard cash aside. But still, the contests and photos in this app are a lot of fun. Think of the Snapzing iPhone app as a daily prompt to take more photos and connect with friends. It’s pretty amazing.
Snapzing iPhone app requires iOS 3.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
