Vita-Mind Dr. Sleep iPhone App Video Review
During our iPhone app review of Vita-mind Dr. Sleep I put the app to through a set of rigorous tests, by taking a nap. After a few minutes I was hooked. I had to know how this app actually managed to get my busy mind to calm down enough for an afternoon siesta.
It turns out the Vita-mind Dr. Sleep iPhone app performs this miracle by harnessing the power of rhythmic isochronic beats. Naturally the concept of isochronic beats was foreign to me, so after a little research I came up with this.
Isochronic beats are steady sounds emitted at a frequency designed to help regulate your brain waves. The concept is called brain entrainment.
Exposing yourself to isochronic beats can have a soothing effect on your mind, hence the awesome nap I had while listening to the Vita-mind Dr. Sleep iPhone app.

In the app you are exposed to these isochronic beats and choose a background track to play with it. There’s an alarm feature and a timer you can set when you decide just how much soothing your brain is after.
Tap the little info icon in the upper right-hand corner to get a few pointers on using the Vita-mind Dr. Sleep app. The help file is, well, helpful.
The app’s UI is a little tricky to figure out. After a few minutes and a quick scan of the info file I had it down.
First, tap the session you want to complete in the session list tab. Touch the play icon at the top of the screen to get it going.
Then tap the BGM list tab. Select the background track that appeals to you. Press play again. Now both tracks will be playing. You can either tap the timer icon to select a session length, or you can tap pause to stop it.
Other than the slight set up confusion, the Vita-mind Dr. Sleep iPhone app is easy to use. It works with or without headphones, even when your iPhone is hibernating.
All it took was one afternoon nap to convince me that the Vita-mind Dr. Sleep app is worthwhile. Here at TheiPhoneAppReview.com we reviewed the free version of this app. The free version comes with one session and two background tracks.
I’ve already upgraded to the full version of this app, which costs $1.99. Normally I deduct points for hidden costs, but in this case I’m making an exception. I didn’t think it would actually help me sleep, but it did. Consider me converted.
Go download the Vita-mind Dr. Sleep app. You have nothing to lose, except that nasty case of insomnia.
