BooksVirtual iPhone App Video Review
There’s nothing like a good book: flipping the pages, soaking in every well-appointed word, the back strain from carting them around like so much antiquated luggage…
Now you can say goodbye to the painful aspects of loving books with BooksVirtual, an iPhone app from sanal-kitap.com that unites readers and empowers authors like never before. If you’re looking for a mobile reader app you can actually feel good about using, look no further.
Most readers are familiar with the idea of an e-reader. You get to ditch the hefty tomes you normally carry around, but still have access to all the awesome literature you want on the go.
The BooksVirtual iPhone app has an expansive library with tons of copyright-free classics (you can never have too many copies of “The Art of War” or “Pride and Prejudice”) and content from modern authors who submit their books to BooksVirtual. Oh boy, are there a lot of them.
Usually I wait until the end to talk about pricing, but it’s worth saying it now. All of this content is free. And there’s no catch. I think I’m in love.
As a reader this excites me to no end. As a writer, I am even more intrigued. It’s quite an egalitarian relationship. Writers do not get paid for submitting their work to the BooksVirtual iPhone app. However, they do get exposure, download reports and stats. If you’re having trouble selling your work to a publisher, that’s the kind of data that can help tip the scales in your favor.
The BooksVirtual iPhone app organizes data into handy tabs: library, store, reading and about. In the store you can sort through titles by date, popularity and language. All it takes is two taps and your title downloads, appearing in the bookshelf style library tab.
Tap a book to start reading it, or pick up your most recent story right where you left off in the reading tab. While you are actually in a book the UI gets even better. Customize your reading experience and either scroll through text or flick pages like a real book.
There are options to share, comment, recommend and more if you touch the screen briefly then pick up your finger. These are all top notch features that most high dollar e-readers incorporate, and in the BooksVirtual iPhone app they are completely free.
There’s no need to purchase an expensive standalone e-reader, your iPhone, iPod and iPad will all work with the BooksVirtual app. I have no complaints about this app. It works like a charm every time.
Just one small suggestion. Make it possible to bookmark spots in more than one book at a time. This is a small, picky request from an avid reader and fan.
I already mentioned the BooksVirtual app’s price, but it’s hard not to say it again. It’s FREE! I found titles that I love quickly and downloaded them easily. I love this app and think you will too, whether you’re a writer looking for a break or a reader looking for the perfect e-reader.
BooksVirtual iPhone app requires iOS 3.2 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
