Let’s be honest, there are a lot of Twitter iPhone apps out there. There are a few perennial reasons for using a third party Twitter iPhone app. Maybe you want more options or a different interface. Or maybe you just can’t stand the “QuickBar.” If you are in the market for a customizable Twitter app with multiple account support you’re going to want to pay attention while I review TwitStar from developer DeArto20.

TwitStar is a feature-rich iPhone Twitter app. In addition to allowing users to add multiple Twitter accounts in one convenient app, it tows the line with some classic Twitter functions.

Like all good Twitter interfacing apps, TwitStar lets you post the most important updates, alerts, thoughts and just any ole thing you’d care to share in 140 characters or less. Upload or take a new picture to include with your Tweet, reuse recent hashtags, peruse a list of people you are following to tag, include GPS information in your post, and even save a draft for some other time.

The timeline function is missing the controversial “QuickBar” feature. Tap a Tweet to see re-Tweet history and access user detail. Pull the screen down to manually refresh your timeline or let it update automatically.

Additional features include tabs for direct messages, tagged messages, a search function and a great new favorites feature. Simply tap the star next to any message to save it as a favorite. Select “Favorites” in the “More” menu for your viewing pleasure. The lists and search functions were not functioning perfectly while I completed my review, but those are my only complaints.

Multiple user access, favorites and enhanced layout options are TwitStar’s main claims to fame when it is stacked up against other popular iPhone Twitter apps that are out there.

In addition to a generous helping of standard Twitter fun, TwitStar iPhone app lets you select from several different color schemes to personalize your user experience. I’m partial to the Grape Purple color scheme personally, but you might find Freesia Yellow or Charcoal Gray tickles your Tweeting fancy better.

Layout & Design:

TwitStar utilizes classic navigation with bottom tabs for the timeline (called “Home”), direct messages, mentions, favorites and more. Use the more button to access your profile information, search functionality, lists, and additional settings such as notification sounds, the color theme and auto rotate.

Traditional layout and clear, easy to use formatting makes TwitStar an extremely user friendly iPhone Twitter application.

Features such as favorites and multiple user support help put TwitStar on the map. Colorful user interface options appeal to my decorative sensibilities so well that I think I’ve found my new favorite Twitter app for iPhone.

Bundle all of those delicious details in a $.99 package and you’ve got a lot of bang for a buck. TwitStar is an extremely good deal if you’re looking for a different way to explore your Twitter addiction in style.
