Phone Drive Video App Review
The beauty of iPhone apps is their inherent ability to add functionality to the iOS by modifying the limitations and restrictions of the core OS. Phone Drive iPhone app, by Eightythree Technology delivers exactly what you would hope for in an iPhone app, and then some. Not only does Phone Drive essentially turn your iPhone or iPod Touch into a sophisticated file sharing flash drive, it offers tremendous file management and audio / video playing capabilities into one slick app.
Phone Drive offers sophisticated functionality that goes beyond the benefits of a standard flash drive. You can send files to friends via WiFi and/or Bluetooth, view documents, files, and easily transfer utilizing either HTTP or FTP. You may move, copy, delete, and rename files, access Zipped files, take photos, voice memos, or videos and instantly import them to your folders, and access a text editor, all easily accessed and intuitively designed under the hood of this iPhone app.
Phone Drive does not stop with great file access and management, it also includes a quick and easy to use audio and video player so that you may access your media files on the go. Formats supported are as follows:
- Audio (WAV, MP3, M4A, CAF, AIF, AIFF, ACC)
- Images (JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP, TIF, TIFF, ICO, CUR, XBM)
- Movies (MP4, MOV, MPV, 3GP, M4V)
You may also access PDF files and Microsoft Word documents, Excel files and PowerPoints.
Graphics and Documentation:
The Phone Drive iPhone app offers simplistic graphics, but they are clear and easy to read. Menus load without any lag or drag, and the entire interface was snappy, and a pleasure to utilize.
The only slight concern I had when working with Phone Drive is that the app offers so much, yet there was little documentation to support the user knowledgeable. I would have preferred an easy to access help section which offered more information than limited browser support.
Phone Drive offers tremendous value. Although there is a lite version, the full version is only $.99, and for under a dollar, you receive significant value delivered from easily accessing your files, transferring them and remotely accessing them via HTTP and FTP, peer to peer file transfer via WiFi or Bluetooth, media file access and management, and a whole lot more.
Phone Drive [ iTunes Link ] requires iOS 3.1.3 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
