iTheme - Themes for iPhone and iPod Touch - Ayogo GmbH

Price: $1.99

Anyone looking to make their iPhone a bit more unique and attractive will enjoy iTheme from Ayogo GmbH.

Most iPhone owners are constantly searching for ways to make their handsets unique and more personalized, whether it is with a flashy cover, a smart stylish case or even one of the many curious and unfathomable attachments that are now available. With the iTheme app users are able to go a step further by customizing their wallpaper and locking screen with a choice of 20 impressively designed themes that should cater for the personal tastes of most users.

Each theme comes with a locking screen and wallpaper screen so users can mix and match screens from different themes if they really want to give their iPhone a totally fresh and snazzy look.

Ease of Use

Once installed the initial layout of iTheme appears to be quite basic but once you’ve chosen the theme you want it seems to be a bit inconvenient to get from simply ‘looking at the cool picture’ stage to actually ‘having the cool picture’ as a background. The more impatient smartphone users amongst us will want to get the picture at the touch of a button rather than going in and out of screens more times than a cinema usher.

When choosing a theme the app saves one or both of the pictures in the photo section of the iPhone and users then need to go in, select ‘save as wallpaper’ and set the pictures as either lock screen or home screen. iTheme does provide help on how to do this when saving the themes, which is good news for those of us that struggle to find our way around even the simplest of technology! However, it would have been nice for the app to pander to our lazy streaks by applying the pictures directly to the home or locking screen.

Value for Money

Considering that iPhone cases often cost $20 to $40+, and the dangling charms can range from $5 to $15+, the $1.99 price point, which enhances the aesthetics from a users perspective, rather than an outer appearance perspective, seems quite fair. Additionally, with 20 variations, and an ability to mix and match, this provides an ability to regularly freshen up your phone with new looks, and aids to the longevity of the benefits of this app. With that said, it is our hope that in due course the developer will add even more themes for users to access.

iTheme [ iTunes Link ] iPhone app requires iPhone iOS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
