Gun Center is a new gun iPhone app from Ros Media. It combines a gun builder and a firing range to shoot all of the guns you have built. The first stage, or the game function of the app, allows you to put together a disassembled firearm in a timed exercise. You can compete against yourself for a best time and your score can be uploaded to the Gun Center Website for ranking prestige. The second function allows you to take your built firearm and shoot it in a firing range. There is also a huge amount of information on guns in this app. You get all of the particulars of individual firearms, plus the history of firearms complete with the background of each gun. There is a tutorials section and a Gun-o-pedia containing the descriptions of all of the guns in the app.
The Gun Center iPhone app has everything you’d ever want to know about the 30 guns it features. You get bundles of info on its handguns, submachine guns, rifles, machine guns, sniper rifles, and shotguns. You unlock the types of guns by successfully building the guns of each category. Building the guns is fun and you get a practical knowledge of the firearms, but the game portion of the app was a bit boring to me. It was entertaining to pretend I was Private Pile and assemble the gun quickly. However, the firing range gives you a profile of the gun and you can fire it by tapping on the screen, but there is no target to shoot at and it didn’t hold my attention for long. I see the most benefit of this iPhone app as a reference to all the gun info it contains, and again, building the guns was quite interesting and informative.
Gun Center provides you with a fun way to see each of its guns disassembled and to put them back together. I found the biggest merit of this iPhone app in all of the history and information it provides on the multiple guns in each of its categories. Use it as a quick reference or to settle heated discussions with your friends about the muzzle velocity of a Desert Eagle .50 cal and more.
Again, I had fun assembling all of the components of each of the guns, but it really didn’t hold my interest beyond that. I think that if you are a gun nut, this will be a great app to add to you library. The graphics and sound effects are cool, and you get an encyclopedia of gun knowledge and history.
Gun Center is only $0.99 and is a good deal if you love guns. I’d definitely like to see some upgrades to the shooting range and maybe some additional games with the guns in future updates. Perhaps they will add more unique guns in updates as well.
So, grab the app, dust off your gun assembling skills, and get a ranking on the website! I’ll be looking for your tag!
