dockReader is a new iPhone application from ade-software that combines a social network status updater and a news feed reader into a single app. It brings you updates from Facebook, Twitter, and any RSS or Atom newsfeeds that you program into it, in a single viewing and interactive application. You get all of your updates in one timeline view and can post your own updates and even interact with other people’s posts. You can also comment or ‘like’ people’s posts directly through this app. It has five themes and works on any iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad.
dockReader is a pretty handy app. Having all of your social network posts and status updates in one app is definitely handy. If you are a person who jumps back and forth between Twitter posts and checking the status updates of your friends on Facebook, this app is for you. The ability to add any RSS feed that you want allows you to keep up to speed on any happenings that you want. I really like the ‘Giant Scrolling’ option to turn this app into a fullscreen News Ticker. It will scroll any updates across the screen and make a chiming sound (several to choose from) to alert you to a new status update, post, or story coming in. Then you can just tap the screen to make a comment, etc. I also really like the preview mode for RSS feeds, where you get to see a headline and a couple sentences from the feed, and then can click a button for the full story or jump back to status updates.
This app allows you to save time and increase your multitasking between social networking apps. I love that you can make comments directly through this app that will post on your Facebook status or allow you to make comments on other’s posts. This way you don’t have to keep jumping back into the Facebook app. I also enjoy being able to customize the RSS feeds that I want into a single app. I set up the feeds that I wanted, and set my iPhone next to my computer and could just glance as new updates came in. Pretty cool.
I can really see people enjoying this application and using it on a regular basis. It is basic in it’s functions, but that makes it easy to customize and you can more easily get what you want out of it. I love not having to keep going back into Twitter or Facebook to see little posts from my friends. When someone posts, dockReader alerts me and scrolls the post right across the screen. When nothing new is coming in, dockReader gives you a digital clock face, so you can use it to see how many hours are left in your work shift. ;-)
dockReader is $0.99 and I think will fast become your default app to get all of your Twitter, Facebook, and RSS updates. Check it out today!
