Weekly iPhone Apps Roundup – Top 5 Apps for March 25

Top 5 iPhone Apps

Another smashing week for iPhone apps! In fact, we could hardly catch our breath this week as great apps were launching vigorously and we were working hard at the iPhone App Review to cover all the action!

This week was like a fine souffle of iPhone apps, it had just about every ingredient you could imagine. There were quite a few apps that aimed to enhance our cerebral this week. We learned that Tiger Woods wanted to teach you to grip your shaft, of your favorite golf club,  with his new Tiger Woods My Swing App. We also learned how to score free drinks with the iDrink4Free app. And, if after reading that, you remain sober, we learned just how easy it is to play the piano with iPianoRoll.

Aside from learning, we covered some exciting new games, including the breakout genre app NewPark Blockers HD, and our fingers delighted in the rapid action of the old classic Operation Wow! brought back to life with amazing accuracy.

Ah, but alas, we are just warming up my friends. Below is a look at the top five iPhone apps of the week.

Best Of ..

Best Of – Free

And what would a “best of” iPhone app reviews list be without, well, Best of! Best Of, brace yourself, is a Best Of app! The app itself is much more creative than the title, and it proves to be quite effective in directing you to some of the best reviewed establishments, bars, restaurants, and more.

We love many elements of Best Of, including the fact that it is free. Best Of app utilizes your GPS location to pin point the best of that is local to you. As noted in the screen shot this could mean the best nigh clubs, tacos, golf, and more.

Best Of gathers its content from respected and trusted sources, such as LA Weekly and Village Voice. At the moment, Best Of  works in about 25 cities, including San Diego, Las Vegas, Detroit, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and others. However, they are committed to expanding their service in the near future.

QuickCam

QuickCam – $.99

How many times have you spotted the one armed, red tailed, spotted gazelle, the rarest gazelle on the planet. You reach for your iPhone to access the camera and snap a photo that will make you infamous. You aim the iPhone and wait… and wait… <Yawn>.

At last the camera is active and ready – Oh No! The one armed, red tailed, spotted gazelle got away.

Even if you have not found a one armed, red tailed, spotted gazelle, we have all had frustrating moments watching a picture perfect moment slip through our iPhone. Well, not anymore! QuickCam is the fastest loading iPhone camera app, with rapid fire photo taking options, in-video image capturing and more.

Halftone iPhone app

Halftone – $1.99

Halftone caught our attention this week and we are still fawning over the functionality and overall effects that are rendered. For those who did not catch our full review earlier this week, Halftone is a photography app that lives us to its claims of turning your photos into vintage-esque, comic book flavored, images.

The Halftone app  has a variety of options and can infuse unique textures and filters, such as old-school newspaper, to give your photos that authentic vintage/comic look.

Halftone is a robust photo editing app at a price point that is very attractive, and best of all, it lives up to the hype where most apps within this genre fail.

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six 3 Shadow Vanguard

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3 Shadow Vanguard – $6.99

Tom Clancy fans will not be disappointed with the new release, created from the ground up, specifically for the iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad.

This intense FPS iPhone app is the first of its kind as it allows you to command a unit of three soldiers, each with their own unique skills.  You lead the way and strategically deploy your recon, demolition, and stealth team to outwit, outplay, and outlast international terrorists. Looks like Mr. Clancy is also a fan of Survivor! :)

Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six 3 Shadow Vanguard allows you to engage in fast paced action on your own, or play multiplayer and challenge up to two other friends.

Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP

Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP – $4.99

For the iPad, this week we became quite enthralled with ..  <gasping a big breath of air in order to pronounce the title in one breath> ..  Superbrothers Sword & Sworcery EP.
