“I’ll call you!” How many times have you said – or heard – those words, and yet somehow the call never happens. If that’s your standard line after a bad date, well, to my knowledge there’s no app for that. But if you really mean it but you just can’t keep up with all the calls you have to make, iCallYou might be the app for you.
Designed by Teohoul, the sole purpose of this app is to quickly create a reminder when you promise to call someone. The process takes about five seconds. Let’s say you tell your sister you’ll call her Saturday. Open the app and click the “+” to add a new entry. Scroll the wheel to choose this coming Saturday and a time (in increments of every two minutes), choose your sister from your contacts, and add a note about what the call is in reference to (optional). Tap “Save” and it’s added to your list.
Close the app, and when the date and time arrive, you receive a push notification reminding you about the call. You can tap “Call Now” to dial up your sister and solidify your place as Best Sibling Ever. Once you make the call, that item is automatically erased from your list.
One thing to note is that you can’t make changes. If you open the app to view your list and touch and item, it’s deleted – there’s no editing. To change the date for a call, you need to add it as a new entry. But for a free app (with non-intrusive ads at the top and no annoying pop-ups), this works very well and is incredibly easy to use. A very handy tool for the forgetful caller.
iCallYou (iTunes Link) requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. A small expedite fee was paid by the developer to speed up the publication of this review.
