Sex is great for developing cardiovascular and muscular fitness and it’s a well known fact that spending some ‘quality time’ with that special someone is a great way to burn some calories.
Developed by Salubrious Training Ltd, SexyFitness is an iPhone app that gives you the low-down on a whole range of positions, ranging in difficulty from ‘lazy’ to ‘impressive’ with information on the kind of workout that each provides.
Each position features a non-explicit cartoon image of the position being performed and is accompanied by color-coded information – blue for males and pink for females. The muscles worked by each partner are both written out (e.g abdominals, hamstrings, triceps) and also noted on an anatomical diagram.
Each position is also rated on four qualities – stamina, strength, flexibility and calories burnt using an arbitrary 5 point rating system. It would be useful for this information, or at least the calorie burnt info to be quantitative – i.e 140 calories burnt per hour vs 1/5.
There are 39 illustrated positions in total, with standards like Missionary, Spoons and Cowgirl as well as more exotic options such as the Reverse Wheelbarrow or the Crane. You can navigate your way through the three categories – lazy, energetic and impressive or choose a position at random using the ‘surprise me’ button on the home screen.
The user interface of SexyFitness is easy to use, but could do with an update to improve the quality of both the images used as well as a general improvement to the look and feel of the app, particularly the initial menus.
Bottom Line: A handy app for couple’s looking to spice things up in the bedroom and burn some calories at the same time.
