Putting aside the fact that it’s pretty much the same app, just without Carl, Talking Baby Hippo from Outfit7 has been doing very well since its release late last week.
The developers tout Talking Baby Hippo as an app suitable for children aged 2-7 and for “everyone young at heart”. Talking Baby Hippo will repeat everything you say (just like Talking Carl), but in his cute little baby hippopotamus voice.
You can interact with Baby Hippo by tickling him, poking him, feeding him carrots, making him blow up a balloon or by giving him a butterfly to play with. The app also allows you to take videos of Baby Hippo so you can email them to friends or upload to Facebook or YouTube.
If you’ve got young kids Talking Baby Hippo might be worth a look, but at $1.99, there are cheaper (i.e free) apps available that do more or less the same thing.
Talking Baby Hippo is compatible with iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad and requires iOS 3.0 or later.
