Verizon Finally on the iPhone Train?

The rumors have resurfaced once again: The Wall Street Journal has just reported that Apple “appears to be working on an [iPhone] model for U.S. mobile phone operator Verizon Wireless,” in addition to the new model due to be unveiled this summer.

According to the report, one of the iPhones is being manufactured by Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., their previous Taiwanese contract manufacturer. The other is with Pegatron Technology Corp., and will have CDMA capability, a feature used by Verizon.

Verizon spokespersons declined to comment, while one AT&T spokesman made a valid point:

“There has been lots of incorrect speculation on CDMA iPhones for a long time. We haven’t seen one yet and only Apple knows when that might occur.”
