Saturday Night Live once had a sketch about a company’s terribly rude computer guy who would go up to the office, realize that his client is a moron and then bellow his obnoxious catchphrase: “MOVE!” He would then proceed to push the person out of the way of the computer and instantly take over the keyboard, staring intently at the monitor. Well, if he had TeamViewer Pro by Team Viewer he wouldn’t have even needed to worry about leaving his office.
TeamViewer Pro is your basic remote computer access app, but it’s more geared toward the professional environment. By buying this one app, you can give yourself access to an unlimited amount of computers by simply downloading and installing a host program on your company’s server. The Pro version gives you access to an unlimited amount of free hosts with all licenses as long as you’ve paid the $99.99 for the app. (There’s also a free version you can get for personal use if you’re not a big fancy corporate computer guy.)
So how well does it work? Well, for one thing, you’re taking an entire desktop and smashing it down to the size of your iPhone, so it’s not going to be perfect. That said, the zooming features work wonderfully and the touch-screen mouse movement is pretty genius in its simplicity. Out of curiosity, I decided to remotely open up a video game just to see how it worked. I didn’t expect it to work very well, and it was, indeed, very slow to respond, but otherwise worked like it was supposed to. But that’s an extreme use that doesn’t really fit in the realm of what TeamViewer Pro was designed for. The app shows everything on screen and offers options for your experience to run more smoothly.
The connection process is easy, and it’s easy to find previous connections later on. I really have no complaints with it. If you’re looking for some basic remote connectivity, this is the perfect app for that. Their website has a desktop version as well as the clients needed for connectivity. Get the free version and play around with it for yourself. If you like what you see, like I think you will, then the corporate version is just a click away.
TeamViewer Pro is compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch. It requires the iPhone OS 2.2.1 or later.
