Mister Ed was a one-trick pony, and look how far he got! The equine comedian got his own TV show. So why can’t horses get an iPhone/iPod Touch app? With Horseface by Thorough Design Pty Ltd, the developer of brainy Idea Stimulator, they get just that. This follow-up to Idea Stimulator, a wonderful application for those suffering from “stuckness,” is a braying laugh.
After wracking your brain all day at the office, try these comical colts. Horseface allows the user to channel his/her inner Lone Ranger and get crazy with Silver. Even better— users can get all National Velvet on Elizabeth Taylor and The Pie, and move beyond Flicka’s cuteness. Seriously, there is no end to the galloping hilarity.
There are the obvious captions: “Why the long face?”; “May the Horse Be With You.” “Carrot or Bust!” But go a little maverick with something like, “I don’t need no stinking cowboy to lead me to water!” I’m sure you can do better.
Horseface is especially diverting for the little ones new to humorous captions. My 17-month-old son laughed and squealed with glee while choosing passages from his favorite books to be placed in the text bubbles.
Simply put, once Horseface loads, the user chooses from among 36 images—some comically disturbing (i.e., a horse’s nostril)—attaches a text bubble and then has the ability to email the captioned image of a face only a mother could love to friends and family.
To kick the app up a notch, may I be so bold to suggest adding the ability to unlock some images? Perhaps photos of people with uncanny resemblances to horses, such as Sarah Jessica Parker or Barbara Streisand? But that might not get the approval of the App Store…
Horseface requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with both iPhone and iPod Touch.
