ProOnGo is an excellent expense tool from ProOnGo LLC for the business person on the go. It features a wealth of features for organizing both personal and professional expenses, while also allowing you to send the expense report to multiple different recipients.
The first thing you’ll notice when you boot up the app is a list of your expenses. You can create new items or delete older ones, and a total of currently tracked expenses is kept running at the top of the app. When you create a new expense item, you can first select from a regular expense, a mileage expense, or a time expense. Following that distinction, you can add the name of the business, the total, applicable expense category, the date, an image of the receipt and a description.
At the bottom of the app, there are buttons for exporting an expense report, sorting the currently tracked expenses, saving and restoring backups, a chart of the past 12 months’ expenses, filtering different types of expenses out of your report, a settings tab, and a ProOnGo Help tab.
Sending your expense report is particularly helpful because not only can you e-mail your report, but you can also upload it to QuickBooks, or reformat your report into a simple spreadsheet or a Microsoft Office xml document.
The biggest factor in deciding on a specific expense reporting app is what that app can do, and ProOnGo offers a feature I haven’t seen in other expense reporting apps. If you have an iPhone 3GS, you can take pictures of receipts and ProOnGo will take the information from the receipt and import it into an item on your expense report. The added camera quality enables the app to interpret the image and take information directly from the receipt. ProOnGo offers a subscription service for this feature, but does also offer a free trial of 15 receipts, which is probably enough to decide whether or not you use the service enough to pay on a regular basis for it.
ProOnGo lets you customize your and control your expense reports in very intricate ways, so if you want to streamline your expense tracking while you’re out and about, ProOnGo comes highly recommended.
ProOnGo is compatible with the iPhone and iPod Touch (2nd Generation). It requires the iPhone OS 3.0 or later. It recommends use with the iPhone 3GS.
