Anyone who has ever bemoaned the annoying chimes of their iPhone’s alarm clock may want to check out Cat Nap Pro.
This new app by Mark McCollom allows you to set an alarm clock or nap timer using your phone’s MP3s as the alarm sound. The alarm clock function allows you to set the alarm time via an easy to use touch pad; just select the exact time you want to wake, choose AM or PM, and tap start. Unfortunately, the alarm clock only works with the app up and running, so once you’ve set it you can’t do anything else on your phone or the alarm with be disabled.
The nap timer is similarly easy to use and allows you to set the amount of time you want to pass before it sounds, as opposed to setting the exact time. The nap timer could feasibly be used for any number of purposes, from timing food in the oven to alerting yourself to flip over at the beach. Likewise to the alarm clock, it only works with the app actively running; it cannot function in the background of your phone.
To find the song from your iPod library that you want to use as the alarm tone, simply go to the options menu and tap the icon that reads “MP3 Library.”
Other Cat Nap Pro features include:
- The capacity to shuffle and repeat MP3s
- A fade display option
- Background choices for morning, afternoon and night
This no frills app is worth the price for anyone who needs an alarm clock or timer on the go. If you’re used to having an MP3 compatible alarm clock at home, this app will turn your iPhone into a portable version of the same.
Cat Nap Pro is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch and requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
