Like many self-employed people, I carve out a little bit of time every day to go over the latest postings on CraigsList. Needless to say, once I had a Touch, I was ready to check out an app that would make this daily ritual even more convenient.
After checking out CraigsMobileList 2.0, the latest version of the first CraigsList compatible iPhone app, it’s safe to say I’ll be doing all of my CraigsList surfing on my iPod Touch. (Don’t tell CraigsList, but I actually prefer the layout of this app!)
Designed by Mobile Simplicity, the newest version of CraigsMobileList allows you to both search and post ads from your iPhone or iPod Touch. On the main page, you can search easily for a location by country, state, and city, and your recent locations are saved at the top of the page for easy access. Once you choose the category and sub-category, tap “bookmark” to save this search on another page. Because most people use CraigsList for just a few specific searches, like “Atlanta-Jobs-Education”, the bookmark tool is a great feature.
Before you check out the listings, you can also set filters for things like “part-time” or “telecommute” for jobs, and “min/max price” or “pets welcome” for housing. Once you’re on the listings page, you can tap the little photo icon to search by images, if you prefer. Adding an ad to your favorites is easy, and another icon gives you the option of viewing the ad in its original format on CraigsList. You can also respond to the poster or send the link via email with this app.
Posting an ad is just as easy. You can log in to your account from the settings page, then choose from the location and category options. The app may take you to the CraigsList site to complete the process. Enter the title, a specific location, an email address (which you can make anonymous), as well as images and text, and post!
I’m more of a searcher than a poster, so the bookmark feature alone is enough to sell me on this app. But the organization and even just the looks of CraigsMobileList are an improvement on the original website as well. This app is probably the only way I’ll be checking CraigsList from now on.
CraigsMobileList requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone & iPod Touch
