When one thinks of music in terms of their iPhone or iPod Touch, your mind goes directly to the thought of playlists and your favorite musicians. But now, with PhonyShaker by Amygdala Studios, you can add your own rhythm with this innovative app that allows you to keep the beat, whether it be during sing-a-longs or in combination with your music library.
Unlike prior shaker apps, PhonyShaker boasts about its ability to generate sound based on the motion of an iPhone or iPod Touch, as opposed to previous shaker apps, which only provide predetermined beats. This allows users to access their iTunes library and keep the beat along with their favorite songs simultaneously.
PhonyShaker includes nine different shaker sounds (and one surprise, as they choose to call it), such as fine, grainy, edgy, shower and metal. Such sounds turn your every day iPhone or iPod Touch into various instruments, such as maracas, a rattle or a tambourine.
Users can also adjust the volume and dampening of the shaker within PhonyShaker. By heightening the dampening of the shaker, users will find a sharper, more percussive sound, while lowering the dampening provides a softer, longer sound, referred to as decaying.
While PhonyShaker offers users a simplistic design and the ability to create their own beat, this app caters more to fun than usefulness, and for $1.99, it only seems ideal for those truly longing to keep the beat. However, PhonyShaker is spot on everything Amygdala Studios claims it to be.
