Your name is Bower; that seems to be all you can remember. You are walking along the halls of the Elysum, the space station you are on. You seem to remember vaguely that you were carrying 350 passengers; where are they all? All of a sudden, you are approached by a hideous-looking creature, who’s only goal is to kill you.
Welcome to the world of Pandorum, the soon-to-be horror film and iPhone application. Created by developer Artificial Life, Pandorum is an iPhone application spin-off of the new movie that’s coming to theaters soon. If you want horror on your iPhone or iPod, you’ve found the right app.
Pandorum is a first-person “shoot-em-up” game, with a horror type of twist. When playing, you will travel alone down endless corridors, where anything may lurk. Along your way, you will encounter mutants, children, and bugs that will get your adrenaline going. Plus, with the incredible graphics in the game, Pandorum will be sure to get even the most hardened horror film watchers a little nervous.
This app has some great features to it; unlike many first-person games on the iPhone, the controls are intuitive and easy to use. The d-pad really helps in the one-on-one fights with the mutants. Be warned though; the game can lag if you repeatedly tap one side of the pad. The developer has a great start with Pandorum, and there are only a few things that could improve in gameplay.
The Good: graphics, lighting, d-pad, scariness, story line
The Bad: lag time, size of the app
The Bottom Line: Pandorum is a great first-person game, and it is well worth the $1.99 price tag. Beware: this app is extremely scary! If you are even a little bit of a nervous person, you may want to reconsider getting this app. It will scare the living daylights out of you. But, if you are a horror fanatic, Pandorum is a must-have. Get ready for some serious fun with Pandorum!
Pandorum requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch
