GPS Me for iPhone from Big Hill Software is a new app that let’s you easily tell everyone exactly where you are. You can share your location through text and email or let all your friends know via Facebook. Heck, you can even tell the whole world through Twitter.
Have you ever been to a cafe or restaurant that you’d love to go back to, but can’t remember where on earth it was? Perhaps you’ve seen something on sale in a shop and want to remember where it was so you can go back. GPS Me to the rescue! You can use it to actually save the locations to a favorites list to easily look them up later.
Using GPS Me is incredibly easy – just fire it up and you’ll see a big central button. Tap that button and GPS Me will locate exactly where you are down to an accuracy of between 13ft and 1640ft.
You can set this accuracy on the settings page accessible from the main screen. You can also change the measurements between imperial or metric, and alter the time the app takes to find your location between 30 seconds and 2 minutes.
Once you’ve been located, GPS Me prompts you to input a name for the location you’re sending/saving. You can save/send from the same location as many times as you like, but careful you don’t get on your Twitter followers nerves! The message that you send contains the name of the place you’ve entered, longitude and latitude co-ordinates as well as a Google maps link to your location.
Sending your location by email involves the app opening up your mail app with the details mentioned above. All you have to do is enter the name of the recipient. Texting your location is slightly different – your location details are copied to your pasteboard. GPS Me will then close and open up messaging. You just paste in the details and away you go. To send to Facebook or Twitter, you just enter your username and password and the message is sent. I told you it was easy!
If you’re not a social network guru and don’t feel the need for Twitter and Facebook integration, or maybe you are and you don’t feel the need for text or mail, all of these apps are available separately as GPS Tweet, GPS Book, GPS Mail and GPS Text for $1.99 each. Getting GPS Me for iPhone makes the most sense as you’ll save nearly $3 on the individual prices. If you’re an iPod Touch owner, GPS Me for iPod Touch is also available from Big Hill Software for $3.99. It offers the same details apart from Text, but you will need to be in range of a WiFi network to access geo-location.
GPS Me for iPhone is a great app that could come in really handy. Let your friends know where you are, save a favorite place or even use it in an emergency. This app could save your life!
GPS Me for iPhone requires iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible only with the iPhone.
