For those who live for new iPhone games, how about a change of pace? The game Shape Up! is a challenging game that not only works out your fingers, but also your brain. The developer Sindesso created this fun and colorful shapes game that can actually help people improve their reflexes. But watch out! You may think it’s a bit easy at first, but the game can become quite difficult.
Shape Up! is a game which involves various colored shapes falling down towards the bottom of the screen. The object of the game is to trace the falling shapes in the correct color before they disappear from view. You simply use your finger to trace the shapes and pick the correct colors from the bottom of the screen. The player is given a certain number of lives, and a life is taken away when a shape disappears without being traced properly. When all the lives are spent, the game is over.
The game is quite easy at first, but progresses to more challenging levels. The shapes begin to move faster and more color choices are added. Sometimes the shapes actually change color mid way through their trip, making the color difficult to pin down. The instructions are very helpful, giving you a hands on demo of how the game is supposed to be played. Players can share their scores through the Shape Up! site or through Twitter. The only problem with this is that my scores were not saved in the app permanently. Each time I played a new game, my previous scores were erased.
Shape Up! is a nice change of pace as far as games go. There were no other problems that I could see, except for my scores not being saved. I enjoyed how the game can sharpen the player’s quick thinking skills. Shape Up! would even be a great learning game for children who would like tracing the shapes.
Shape Up! requires the iPhone OS 3.0 or later and is compatible with iPhone and iPod Touch
